Welcome to Watauga, TX! Located in Tarrant County, Watauga is approximately 10 miles from downtown Fort Worth and is home to a population of almost 25,000. Residents enjoy the primarily residential feel of this suburb, as well as the peaceful parks scattered throughout Watauga and the shopping and dining options along Highway 377 at the city’s western edge. Proximity to Fort Worth is another attractive quality of this North Texas city, allowing commuters relatively easy access to downtown and beyond.

Watauga is a relatively affordable place to live, thanks to a median home cost below that of the state and the nation. Although transportation costs are higher than state or national averages, other costs of living, such as utilities and groceries, are more affordable than much of Texas.

The city is entirely surrounded by the cities of Keller to the north, Fort Worth to the west, Haltom City to the southwest, and North Richland Hills to the south and east. Almost all of the city’s land area is located east of US 377, though a portion extends west of that highway and includes homes and some city offices.

Eagle Mountain Lake and Grapevine Lake are both within 30 miles of Watauga, providing residents with plenty of outdoor activities, such as fishing, boating, waterskiing and more. The majority of Watauga is served by the Birdville Independent School District [BISD], while Keller Independent School District [KISD] serves the northwestern portion.
